After five years of incredible research, discovery, and camaraderie, the iAtlantic project has concluded its ambitious assessment of ecosystem health in the Atlantic Ocean. A closing word from our Project Coordinator, Murray Roberts:
"iAtlantic’s success was thanks to the hard work, commitment, and innovation of the people who became the iAtlantic family.
Despite the massive challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, this remarkable team of scientists and ocean governance experts worked tirelessly to expand our knowledge of the delicate ecosystems of the deep and open ocean and bring this understanding straight to policymakers.
I’m so proud of what iAtlantic has accomplished and as society grapples with the challenges at the nexus of the ocean, climate and biodiversity I’m confident that iAtlantic’s findings and our approach to working across international communities will be used for years to come"

Our website will remain in place so that the 100+ publications and other resources we collected throughout the years — including policy briefs, science briefs, films, and more — remain accessible to everyone. And, we encourage you to explore our Research Highlights for a comprehensive overview of iAtlantic’s achievements throughout this project. The legacies of our iAtlantic Fellowship and additional capacity-building activities and training will be long-lasting.
We are so deeply grateful for the support and collaboration throughout the years, and so very proud of the extraordinary work done by the hundreds of researchers.
