Today marks the launch of the online coverage of the iMirabilis2 expedition, due to set sail later this month for the deep sea area around Cabo Verde in the central Atlantic. iMirabilis2 is a blend of cutting-edge science and innovative capacity building, using deep-sea discovery to bring unique learning opportunities to a virtual audience.
This expedition offers incredible learning opportunities for marine scientists at all career stages, as well as a chance to open up the world of seagoing science to those who have never been on a ship. To ensure as many people as possible can benefit from this experience, we will be providing extensive online coverage of the expedition from start to finish, focusing on delivering as much training and capacity building as possible to a remote audience.
To celebrate the start of this adventure, on 8 July we will host a special online session, “Deep Sea to Desktop” to explain what the iMirabilis2 expedition is all about, and how to join us for the journey and get involved in the training programme. This session is a satellite event for the UN Ocean Decade Laboratory on “An inspiring and engaging ocean“. Join us!
