The conference will be held at the Jurere Beach Village hotel complex, located on the coast just north of the city of Florianopolis in Brazil. Discounted hotel accommodation is available on site for conference participants – see details and instructions below.
The hotel complex is located approximately 36 km from the airport in Florianopolis. The airport has daily connections to international airports at Sao Paolo, Rio and Buenos Aires. The nearest airport is Florianopolis Hercílio Luz International Airport (FLN). For international flights, entry into Brazil must be via Rio de Janeiro (GIG) or São Paulo – Guarulhos (GRU) and then connect to Florianópolis (FLN). The iAtlantic Project Office will assist with organising transfers from the airport to the conference hotel.
Accommodation at the Jurere Beach Village is available at a discounted rate for GA2022 participants, as follows (rates per room, per night, including breakfast):
Note: Our meeting takes place in high season, so the iAtlantic block room reservation is only available until 15 August. After that, discounted room rates remain available until 30 August 2022, but availability is not guaranteed. Please book your accommodation early!
Participants must book their accommodation directly with the hotel, either online or by phone:
1. Online booking
Go to www.jurerebeachvillage.com.br and enter the online booking system. Enter the following information when prompted:
This code will give you 10% discount on the current room rates, valid for stays between 6 and 16 October 2022.
2. By phone/email
Contact the Jurerê Internacional Reservation Centre by phone +55 48 3331 7200 or email reservas@jurere.com.br. You need to tell them you are a participant at the iAtlantic General Assembly in order to have access to the discounted rates.
The conference will run as a series of plenary sessions, workshops and breakout sessions – a more detailed programme will be published in due course. The plenary sessions will be video streamed for those participating virtually. In addition, iAtlantic scientists are invited to submit video presentations of their research, to be posted online for participants to watch ahead of the conference (see instructions below).
Before and after the main conference, capacity building workshops focused on ocean governance (Sunday 9 October, at the conference venue) and cold-water coral taxonomy (Sat 15 October through to Mon 17 October, in Florianopolis) will take place. These events are open to everyone – please see the workshop pages for details on how to register.

There is no fee for registration or participation, but those attending in person are responsible for their own travel, accommodation and any meals taken outside the hotel. Lunch, coffees and evening meals are provided as part of the conference; breakfast is included in the room rate for those staying on site.
Each breakout discussion session will be accompanied by short pre-recorded videos and all participants will be expected to watch the videos (online) prior to joining the discussion session. This will allow us to maximise our discussion time together.
Partners are invited to submit video presentations of their research, either in relation to the five overarching iAtlantic objectives, or in relation to other issues that will be discussed in specific breakout sessions.
Please refer to the following documents:
The deadline for submitting your video presentations is 15 September 2022.
